This tiny keyboard is perfect for the young beginner. It will help them develop interest in music. Later on, if your child continues to show interest in playing the keyboard you can buy a more expensive model. But for now a mini music keyboard like the Casio SA-76 would do. Let’s move on to another type of mini piano keyboard. This is usually referred to as a MIDI keyboard or MIDI controller. It’s for professional use. Compact MIDI controllers come with 25, 32, or 49 keys. Prices vary. You can find some for about $100, like the AKAI MPK and M-Audio KeyRig. The Akai LPK25 sells for as low as $55, while the Korg nanoKEY can be bought for about $50. Then there are more expensive ones like the M-Audio Axiom 25 II for $249, M-Audio Axiom 49 II for $349, M-Audio Axiom Pro 25 for $399 and M-Audio Axiom Pro for $479. Higher price usually corresponds to more keys or more/better features. As with most music keyboards, the more you spend the better it gets.
