Welcome to another easy piano tutorial where you learn how to play the Christmas carol, Oh Christmas Tree. It’s very easy to play and is great for beginners. You will learn to play this song in the key of F major.
You have three options for learning the song – a total of three video tutorials. You can learn the melody only, the melody as well as an easy left hand part, and thirdly, the melody of the song accompanied by simple chords.
The notes and chords of the song can be found below. Watch the video(s) first of all, then follow the notes below.
Here’s video 1. You will learn how to play the melody of O Christmas Tree with your right hand.

Some of the chords are played in root position and some are inverted.
What do I mean by “root position” and “inverted”? Briefly, a chord can be played in its root position and can also be inverted. For example, in root position, the notes of the C major chord are played in the order, C-E-G. In its first inversion, it’s played in the order, E-G-C and in its second inversion, the C major chord is played with notes in the order, G-C-E. Notice that the same notes, C, E and G are used each time.
