Coldplay Clocks Easy Piano Tutorial – Chords, Riff and Notes

In this beginner’s tutorial, you will learn how to play the song, Clocks by Coldplay. I start by playing the riff or introduction of the song, including left hand notes, followed by the melody of the song. The riff is played very quickly but when it’s slowed down, you will realize that the notes are very simple. It’s three simple broken chords (arpeggios). The chords are E♭ major, B♭ minor and F minor.

There are two Coldplay Clocks piano tutorial videos. The first video consists of the riff/introduction plus the melody of the song, as well as left hand single notes. The second video consists of the riff plus chords.

How to Play Chords for Clocks by Coldplay – Piano Tutorial – Video 2

It’s a three chord pattern. The chords are:

E♭ E♭ E♭ B♭ B♭ B♭
B♭ B♭ B♭ Fm Fm Fm
E♭ E♭ E♭ B♭ B♭ B♭
B♭ B♭ B♭ Fm Fm Fm

The above pattern of chords keeps repeating. Play full chords with your right hand and single notes with the left hand. For instance, play the chord, E flat with the right hand and the note, E flat with the left.
