Some of the chords are played in root position and some are inverted.
What do I mean by “root position” and “inverted”? Briefly, a chord can be played in its root position and can also be inverted. For example, in root position, the notes of the C major chord are played in the order, C-E-G. In its first inversion, it’s played in the order, E-G-C and in its second inversion, the C major chord is played with notes in the order, G-C-E. Notice that the same notes, C, E and G are used each time.
